MAINTENANCE

Cleaning the cooling vest:

The Pol-O.R Bear Cooling Vest is made of virgin silicone material and can, over time, attract dust, dirt and grime.

To clean the external surfaces, simply use alcohol wipes.

To clean the internal surfaces, disconnect the quick-couplings on the vest and submerse it in an alcohol bath, ensuring that the bath solution enters the interior of the vest tubing.  Remove the vest from the bath and drain excess solution back to the bath.  With the quick-couplings on the vest re-connected, apply pressurized medical grade air to the vest via use of the tether supplied by Texan Corporation.  Allow air to circulate through the cooling vest for a minimum of three (3) minutes.  To contain the alcohol vapors escaping from the vest, it is best to cover the vest with a clean towel.

Inspecting the cooling vest and tethers:

Since the Pol-O.R. Bear Cooling Vest and associated apparatus operate with pressurized medical air, caution must be taken to ensure that these products are in good working condition before and after each use.  Any cuts, abrasions or holes apparent to the naked eye on the surface of the vest tubing or tether hose are cause for rejection.  End users of this product shall not attempt to make repairs.  Repairs must be made by factory-trained personnel only.  In the event of a rupture during use (while pressurized), vest tubing or tethers may whip and cause bodily injury.  If a rupture exists in the vest, the air supply may be cut off by disconnecting the vest from the regulator or by disconnecting the medical airline tether at the Wye fitting located at the wall or drop down connection.  For ruptures or leaks at the tethers, disconnect the air source at the nearest location upstream from the failure.

Consult your company's safety policies for additional safety measures.  Texan further mandates that the user consult their facilities Health and/or Safety Director of the use of this product prior to application.
